A sustainable approach to packaging: The Thai initiative “PackBack in Action” has dedicated itself to this goal. A key measure is the promotion and implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility, or EPR for short.
In general, EPR is an environmental policy concept in which manufacturers take responsibility for the disposal or recycling of their products at the end of their life cycle. In order to implement such a concept in Thailand, various organisations, industry representatives and government authorities met in Bangkok at the beginning of October for a joint forum. It was initiated by the Federation of Thai Industries, the Department of Pollution Control and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The high level of participation in the initiative shows just how much the topic moves the industry: in its third year of existence, it already counts 149 organisations and companies among its members. Krones Thailand is also a member and is delighted to contribute the technical expertise and experience of our Group to the concrete design of the EPR regulations. The common goal is to introduce the EPR model in Thailand by 2027.
