Last Wednesday at our sites in Rosenheim and Raubling it was time to open your mouth and put a test swab in. In a joint campaign with the organisation “Aktion Knochenmarkspende Bayern Foundation” (AKB), numerous colleagues registered for a potential stem cell donation.
With a cheek swab, which takes just 30 seconds, the participants had the chance to be included in a donor database. For AKB, every new registering is a valuable step in building a worldwide network of potential lifesavers. For many people who suffer from leukemia or have another blood formation disorder, a stem cell transplant is the only chance for a cure.
Exemplary commitment at both sites
The campaign was perfectly organized: In Raubling, registering took place in the morning right next to the canteen, and in the afternoon, it continued in the physio room in Rosenheim. Information desk, digital registration and swab: Everything went smoothly and in a calm atmosphere. Among other things, this was also due to the fact that the AKB team was represented at the company meeting one week before the campaign with an information booth and a presentation – a successful start that encouraged many to become active and participate.
Many ways to help
In addition to registering, financial support was also an important issue: Each new entry into the donor database costs the AKB around 35 euros. Accordingly, there was great joy that donations were also collected. The registering campaign at Krones has impressively shown how much can be achieved when people work together. Every newly registered donor can at some point be the one person a patient is eagerly waiting for.
With the campaign, the employees have not only shown responsibility but also given real hope to people in need. A big thank you to everyone involved!
