The Burkina Institute of Technology – “BIT” for short – is deeply committed to supporting the youth of Burkina Faso. High-quality education, regional development and the empowerment of young women are at the heart of the university’s mission.
Founded in 2018 by Susanne Pertl, BIT in Koudougou has since established itself as a leading university in Burkina Faso. The sustainability-focused campus offers a range of technical degree programmes aimed at equipping young people in the country with the high-quality education they need to drive progress in their region. Among BIT’s standout initiatives are its so-called “Women Sessions” – a dedicated programme designed to prepare female students as effectively as possible for successful careers in the technology sector.
From leader to student
Through digital lectures delivered by our female executives, Krones became part of BIT’s women empowerment initiative in October 2025 – and the exchange between the university and the company will continue this year. The topics covered in these joint sessions range from tips on authentic leadership presence and the benefits of strong communication skills to practical advice on successful networking. During these talks, the female leaders also share personal aspects of their own career journeys, speak openly about challenges, and emphasise how important it is to believe in oneself and to pursue one’s own path with determination.
At the heart of the programme is personal exchange in the form of a lively dialogue – a mutual source of inspiration that creates space for different perspectives. In every session, the BIT students have the opportunity to share their own ideas and to delve deeper into elements of the topic that particularly interest them. This creates a dialogue that benefits both sides: The students gain valuable insights from experienced leaders, while the women at Krones gain fresh, valuable perspectives from young talents.
From acquaintances to partners
But the cooperation is set to go beyond the Women Sessions. Further joint projects with BIT are planned throughout the year. These include, for example, an exchange between Krones Human Resources and the university’s staff, a guest lecture and the integration of a case study as part of a course. The goal of this collaboration: a mutually beneficial partnership for all involved.
